Your playing stays on your Mac.
GuitarNotch has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no server of its own. We, the makers, receive nothing about you or how you use the app. This page says what the app keeps, where, and the one place where it talks to someone else: YouTube, in the Videos tab.

What the app keeps, and where
- Sound from the microphone or your audio interface is analysed on your Mac, for the tuner, the riff catcher, takes and the practice timer. It is never sent anywhere. The riff catcher holds the last minutes of your playing in memory while it listens, and saves them only when you press Catch.
- Riffs and takes are ordinary audio and film files in your Music folder (GuitarNotch Riffs, GuitarNotch Takes), or in a folder you pick in Settings. If you pick a folder in iCloud Drive or Dropbox, those services sync it as they do any of your files.
- The camera is used only while you record a take with the camera switched on. The film is saved like any other take.
- Your practice history is a database inside the app's own container on your Mac. You can export it as a CSV file to a place you choose.
- Your video library (links, marks, loops, notes) and your settings are stored on your Mac as well.
To delete all of it, delete the folders above and the app. Nothing is left anywhere else.
YouTube, in the Videos tab
Videos play in YouTube's own player, loaded from youtube.com. When you add a video, the app asks youtube.com for its title and loads its picture from i.ytimg.com. Whenever you use the Videos tab, YouTube, a service of Google, receives what any website with a YouTube video passes on: your IP address, the video you watch, technical details of the player, and it may store cookies. What Google does with that is set out in Google's Privacy Policy. If you never use the Videos tab, the app makes no connection to YouTube.
The App Store
You buy and download GuitarNotch through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the purchase under Apple's Privacy Policy; we receive no personal data from it.
This website
This site sets no cookies, has no analytics and loads nothing from other sites: its fonts are served from here.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask what data about you we hold, have it corrected or deleted, and complain to a data protection authority. As the app sends us nothing, we hold no data about you from it. If you write to us, we keep your email only as long as it takes to answer it.
Changes
If the app ever starts to send anything anywhere, this page will say so before it does. The date at the top shows the latest change.
